We recently got a dog and our family has fallen in love. We’ve had so much fun picking out collars, leashes, and dog tags. We proudly display pics of her in our house. I got to thinking, this would be a fun easy way to give to the pet lover in your life! I made two projects, at home, all in a day using Adobe Photoshop Elements 18. It’s such a personal sweet gift.
Pet Silhouette
For both projects I wanted to eliminate the background from my picture. Adobe has a bunch of guided tools to help you achieve certain effects. Under Guided you would go to Special Edits and then Replace Background. It will tell you exactly what to do.
To get the silhouette look you have to actually go back into Replace Background to get that look. I followed the tutorial by Jenny from The Gingerbread House.
Just resize it to fit your frame, print and done!
Glass Block Picture Light
For this project you will need clear sticker paper, white Christmas lights, and a Krafty Blok. You will go into Guided and replace the background with something fun and bright. I chose a sunset in the picture they provide. It’s the same process you did above and it will tell you exactly what to do.
Now go back into Guided and go to Fun Edits and do the Shape Overlay Effect. Again, it will guide you step by step. I followed the tutorial by It’s Always Autumn.
Once you have your picture the way you want crop it to the size of your block and print.
Cut it out and place on your block
You can do so many things with Adobe Photoshop Elements 18. The guided features are my favorite. It shows you step by step how to do pretty amazing things without have to struggle and teach yourself some brand new complicated program. I am able to make two very personal DIY gifts for my pet loving friends.
Amazing article. I really like this post. Thank you so much.
