I needed a Valentine’s Wreath. Yes, needed. So I decided to challenge myself and try to make a Dollar Store wreath. We’ve seen it done before, I could do it-right? Well turns out my Dollar Store has a whole lot of nothing!! I did manage to grab a few things. I also hit up the Target Dollar Spot for a few more things. The mission: to make it cheap!
Here’s my findings. Now I want you to know I had no vision for this at all! I was just making this up as I go. Going all Project Runway on it-pretty much using anything I could find.
(Rookie blogger move: waited too long to take pics with natural light)
I need some kind of base for it so I hit up the local thrift store and bought this hideous wreath. You gotta see through the ugly! It was $2.50
So I remembered I saw this really cute layered-scalloped-heart wreath I saw at Target that I loved. I thought I would do a bit of a knock off. I had some red felt (which is pretty inexpensive) and cut a bunch of hearts out of it.
I decided to layer it to give that scale look. At this point I was still making it up.
Well this is what I came up with. I’d say it was a success! Total amount spent: $8.50!
Wreath-$2.50
Frame-$1.00
String-$1.00
Black Pennant Flags-$1.00
Gold Letters-$1.00
Glitter Hearts-$1.00
Gold Paper (bow)-$1.00
Felt & Burlap-I had at home but you can get for cheap
Spending under $10 for a wreath=the best feeling ever!!
Not bad right? I refuse to spend more than $10 for a wreath anyways. Sorry Target! I love you but your wreaths are too expensive. Don’t even talk to me about the ones at Micheals $50+. Psshh! Forget about it!
AAAAnd here’s my mantle if you care. Am I the only one that searches for holiday decorated mantles?
I love me some garland.
Thanks for stopping by! Tell us how you decorate for Valentine’s Day. Leave us a link-we’d love to check it out!

This post is linked to these parties!
That's usually the way I roll too. I start with a rough idea and see where it takes me. I love the layered scalloped look of the hearts.
You're rockin' and rollin' your VD's decor!!
Thanks Diane!
I love that you let the creativity flow – and I am really loving that wreath!
This is a cute idea how you added the hearts around the wreath! Super nice & I love your garlands!!!
Thank you!
