Can’t you just hear the cute little music from the movie playing?! I found these jumbo round balloons on Amazon and rented a helium tank to fill them. My brave husband then attached them to our roof. Our neighbors gave us plenty of stares as they drove past.
We have one of those fake gas fireplaces. I so wish we had a real one! However, in this instance, I was glad for our fake one to have something to attach my balloon strings to.
I tried to match much of my mantle to Carl and Ellie’s.
My “Paradise Falls” bank is a cheap wine bottle (emptied and cleaned out). I found the ticket printable on Pinterest. Sorry, I seem to have lost my link.
I found this bird figurine at Cost Plus and then painted it to match the one from the movie. I also took a photo of my son to look like the childhood version of Ellie. I found the aviator hat on Ebay, here. Also on the mantle is Cole’s Adventure Book, that doubled as the invitation. (Separate post on that coming soon!)
So, I decided against painting my actual wall and used poster board instead.
Found Up-themed travel posters on pinterest.
The Winderness Explorer book cover was also a pinterest find.
I found an Ellie badge tutorial here. I found a way to attach the safety pin that allows it fasten easier. Hopefully I’ll get that up in a separate post.
All of the games we played at the party, earned the party goers Wilderness Badges. One of the games we played was a fishing game.
Knowing that my child already had his room filled with toys, we decided against gifts but rather had guests earn their Ellie badges by bringing a donation for a local elderly care facility that helps patients with dementia.
Each guest got their own badge sash. I found the badge printables here.
Here they are learning a camp song to earn the singing badge.
After the friend party, we got set up for the family party for that evening. Each centerpiece consisted of a mini Up house, chocolate coins and a mini picnic blanket. I found the Up house printable on Etsy, here.
For the family party, we served a picnic style dinner.
Build your own sandwiches…
… complete with balloon shaped homemade bread rolls.
Old fashion soda pop found at Cost Plus.
