As you know, Disneyland can be expensive. But something about that magical place has us opening up our wallets and throwing money to the mouse. We go regardless of the dent it does to our bank account but it doesn’t hurt to try to put a few of those dollars back in. Between Meghan and I, I thought we knew everything there was to know about Disneyland freebies and how to make the best of your trip. You can check out our Disneyland Freebies post here and Money Saving Souvenirs here. We are pleased to tell you there is actually more tips and tricks out there to help you enjoy the magic of Disneyland without breaking the budget. Our friend Jessica over at The Happiest Blog on Earth is a true expert on Disneyland. So much so that she wrote an eBook on how to save money at Disneyland.
Also, if you book through Get Away Today you can get a $10 discount by mentioning Jolly and Happy. I know that doesn’t sound like much but Disney doesn’t do discounts on tickets. Just think of it as a free $10. Get Away Today is great because they know everything Disney and can help you plan the very vacation you need and want without extra fees.

Tickets
This is a hefty chunk of your trip! Disneyland is not cheap, AT ALL. They don’t really offer promotions or sales either. They know that we will all pay the price they set and they continue to raise them. Here you will learn tricks to help you save a bit of dough on those expensive tickets. Plus some things you should avoid when buying them.
Travel
If you aren’t fortunate enough to live nearby you will have travel expenses to get there. This could possibly be the next big chunk of you trips budget. Jessica has some amazing information on how to save money to get there. Even tips I will probably use for other trips my family will make in the future. She gives many scenarios for different wants and needs of travel. Everything from flights to rentals cars and shuttles. Details like how many airports are near Disneyland and what the pros and cons of each one are. So if you aren’t familiar with the area this will help in mapping out the best route to get there.
Hotels
I don’t know why but picking a hotel near Disneyland always seems daunting. Seems like there are a million! You have to decide between convenience to good pricing- and how close you can get to both. This book has great suggestions on how to chose the right hotel for you and your family. An actual step-by-step on helping you make that decision and of course gives great suggestions on hotels from her own experience. I always like to have recommendations from experience than from just the good ole internet.
Food
We love food, especially at Disneyland! I have yet to go to the Cove Bar and get those lobster nachos I’ve been drooling over. There are multiple Instagram accounts chronicling all the amazing food there. But all that great food adds up and you can end up spending a ton of money on food especially with a family. This book gives many options on how to save money on food depending on what’s most important to you. Is saving the most amount of money most important to you? You’ll get ideas on how to bring in food for you family. Because Disney is cool like that and lets you bring food in. Is convenience more important? Then there are great tips on where you can get the most bang for your buck!
Saving and Earning Money
I loved that there is a section on how to earn extra money to help pay for your trip- all while getting the kids involved. What a great way to help your kids learn important lessons in life like earning money, budgeting it, and reaping the benefits of it!
You know, we love everything Disney related over here! Reading this as a self-proclaimed expert opened my eyes to things I didn’t even know! I recommend this to anyone even thinking about going to Disneyland. It just might give you the right ideas that can make your trip happen!
