It’s the most wonderful time of year!!! Or maybe it isn’t. Back to school time has most moms feeling some kind of way. We decided to host a “Cheers & Tears” brunch celebrating all of the emotions we feel when our kiddos head back to school.
The main inspiration for this party came from this 1970’s happy face cookie jar that sat on my mom’s kitchen counter my entire childhood, the original emoji! To me it always represented the epitome of happiness, especially when it was full of treats! Keep reading to see how we incorporated this sweet face throughout our party.
The centerpiece about the table was this balloon face made with an assortment of yellow and white balloons.
An easy way to make a larger table top seem smaller and more intimate is by using a table runner in a bright color to draw attention to the center! Our happy face buttons double as confetti for our tablescape.
We covered Oreo cookies with yellow melting wafers and decorated them with candy eyes and an icing smile or frown. So simple and SO yummy!
Another treat on the table was this happy and sad face cupcakes. Who could be sad eating a cupcake?!
It’s almost like our beach ball sad face is staring down those veggies… Thankfully we love a having a healthy option! Add a side of chips and onion dip and we are in!!
I love how these bright tissue balls decorate our white walls! By only opening them half way and affixing them with painters tape, these decorations can be (temporarily) displayed easily!
Over by our party mascot is the candy bar, fittingly outfitted with Smarties, DumDums and banana Laughy Taffys (the best flavor!!) We drew a happy face on these goody bags, knowing they’d be filled with happiness, a.k.a. candy!
Another treat in the candy bar are these delightful gumballs.
Oh yes, take one or ten of each!
Oh, the candy bags aren’t enough! Each mom is sent home with a small gift bag.
Whether you’re the mom laughing or crying about back to school, this little gift back has you covered!
What a perfect way to spend a kid-free morning with your mom buddies!
