I’ve been feeling an itch lately to update my bedroom. Not a full overhaul but adding a few new pieces to freshen it up. For the most part, I really like my bedroom but keeping it exactly the same for a few years can lead to it being a bit… well, boring. So I’ve compiled a list of a few items that will hopefully give my bedroom some new life and will keep me loving my bedroom for the next few years.
Number 1: A new rug. Here’s a fun new way to add a pop of (temporary) color. Maybe you’re like me and want to try a trendy new color or a bold pattern but don’t want to commit to painting or a really expensive piece of furniture. Here is a couple that I’m looking at:
Number 2: Artwork. Disclaimer: I’m not an art expert. Not even close! But I do know what I like. And I would love to have anything painted by my friend Lynne Millar. She’s so talented and everything I’ve ever seen from her is gorgeous. Hopefully, my husband reads this post and realizes my birthday is just around the corner… 😉
Number 3: A new mattress. I’m totally guilty of having the same mattress for a zillion years even after it starts to get uncomfortable and you can pretty much see your body imprint on your side of the bed after you get out. I’m in need of an upgrade… bad! You know Target and I love each other (they named their new clothing brand after my family!!) so when I saw they had these super comfy mattresses on their website by Casper that not only ship free but I also get an extra 5% off when I use my Red Card, I’m thinking SCORE! And they come squeezed in a box so I can move it to my room easily and let it unroll and expand there!
Number 4: New accent pillows and bedding. I usually keep my main bedding very neutral. For the last few years, I’ve had a white duvet and pillow shames from Ballard Designs. But to jazz things up, I’m thinking of adding some cool new pillows and a throw blanket! Kiersten from Nanny Goat Pillows always has such cute pillows to choose from! I’m in love with anything floral or black and white these days!
Number 5: Lighting. Currently, the only lighting in my room is our ceiling fan. I’m very sad about this. I need something bright and fun!
Number 6: Storage. I love cute storage bins for storing extra blankets for when the weather is warm. (It’s 101* today so you bet those blankets are tucked away!) You can also use these adorable baskets to put dirty clothes in to keep your room feeling clean and organized.
With the kids back in school and finally having a few minutes during the day to do projects, I’m excited to start refreshing my bedroom. Let me know what items you’d add to your list!
