Remember the Vintage Around-The-World Bridal Shower I hosted for a dear friend?? Well, here’s a little update for you! My sweet friend Annie is now expecting her first baby!! A little boy will soon be joining her family and I couldn’t be happier! I knew, of course, that I wanted to throw her baby shower. It would be a little trickier this time around with her living two states away but thankfully we were able to make it work. I asked Annie what kind of theme she’d like and she said “pineapple.” So I took her suggestion and ran with it!
Did you know that the pineapple is the universal sign of hospitality and welcome? I found that out while visiting Jamaica some years back and noticed pineapples everywhere. You can not get a more perfect theme for a baby shower than one that centers on “welcome!” It didn’t hurt that pineapples are the trend these days, making it easy to find cute items to decorate with.
Everything started with the invite. I knew I wanted my color scheme to be simple and classic. I decided not to add much more than yellow and green with a touch of gold.
The mom-to-be had access to a clubhouse to host the shower at. I loved that they had a faux mantle for me to decorate! Oriental Trading has such fun products!! Like the bamboo leaf garland and gold pineapple garland! My light box also gives the guests a hashtag to use when posting their party pics. I was also able to find these cute pineapple string and marque style lights.
The clubhouse also had two sets of couches for seating. I wanted to be sure they got the tropical pineapple treatment as well! Look how cute that pineapple pillow cover is!
I also love to have a selfie station at my parties. Thanks to these fringe placemats and seashell coasters from Oriental Trading, I was able to create an awesome backdrop!
I made these paper pineapples to accent my photo backdrop. I love how they turned out!
Now on to one of my favorite parts of any party… the FOOD!
As you can see from the menu, we kept things relatively simple. I like to have a balance of savory and sweet and I wanted to keep it tropical. Our Dole Whip Cookies were a must! Seriously. They are amazing. If you haven’t made them yet… do it now!
I also made our Mango Salsa and found this great recipe for a pineapple cheese ball. I didn’t add the green peppers in though, I’m not of fan of those. I love how easy and beautiful fresh fruit is!! On warm summer evenings, it’s so refreshing!
Is anyone else addicted to Home Goods?! The majority of my serving pieces came from them! And those adorable bamboo straws… from Oriental Trading!
For the table decorations, I was lucky to find an assortment of white pineapples and placed them on top of either braided placemats or rustic wood cutting boards. They sat on top of this darling pineapple indoor/outdoor fabric I found at JoAnn Fabrics.
Here’s a shot of the whole place right before the guests arrived.
I found the three lanterns in the clearance section of Ikea. Score!! I place battery operated fairy lights inside for a fun touch.
These yellow chocolate candies were the perfect filling for these sweet pineapple favors.
I attached a charming little tag and they were ready to go.
I planned a fun surprise for Annie. She and her husband met in Hawaii while attending college so I thought it would be fitting to have Hokulia Shave Ice come cater the shower!! The owners themselves came and served us up some amazing shaved ice treats! They have locations all over, so be sure to look them up! Crossing my fingers that they come to Northern California soon!
Even the smallest of party guests got to pick from the tropical flavor assortments.
This was my dessert and I’m still dreaming about it!
Congratulations Annie!! Thank you for always letting me be a part of your exciting next steps in life! I can’t wait to meet our baby boy. Aloha baby Mongan!!
