This all started with those wispy spider webs in the bag. I decked out my porch and it looked cool for minute. The problem was that is kept falling off and it drove me crazy; but I wanted webs and spiders everywhere! I saw a small popsicle stick craft making a spider web and thought I should make it on a larger scale. So I bring you my oversized spider webs DIY!
This is not a hard craft to make but I will say the larger it is the harder is it to menuver the yarn around the dowels. But you got this! You need three long dowels. These are four feet long and the cheapest ones available at my hardware store. You can used whatever color yarn you want. I went with classic black and white.
Start wrapping the yarn around each section multiple times to secure the dowels together. It will still shift a bit so beware.
When you are ready to move on to making your web, wrap the yarn around each dowel over and over again. Keep pulling the yarn tight down the dowel.
It should start to look like a spider web. If you want to stop half way, pull it tight and hot glue it, you can. It will make it more secure.
You can still wait until the end to glue. I kept sliding the yarn down the down to keep it tight before I glued it.
Create a loop with the yarn and glue it on. I used 3M hooks to hand them.
I got my spider look without the crazy webs. Honestly I need lessons on hanging those!
