I’m loving this whole charcuterie board trend that’s happening. If you are saying charcut-a-what, don’t worry I’m new to this too! A charcuterie board is usually made with meats and cheeses and it is displayed beautifully thrown together on a board. It’s an informal way to eat a meal or a snack. Guests can grab what they want. I love it for many reasons: easy prep, minimal dishes and it looks cool. Since the brand new Lion King starts today I thought a Lion King inspired charcuterie board would be fun. You can throw this together for a party or for your family on a movie night. You can make one for any theme or movie.
I grabbed snacks that reminded me of the movie. Runts bananas and banana chips remind me of Rafiki. Animal crackers to represents the animals. Chocolate drizzled popcorn reminded me of zebras. Cheeto paws like Simba’s paws. Honestly, pretzel sticks just looked rustic and fit the theme. Gummy worms like the grub Pumba and Timone eat. Peanuts for elephants. Green licorice looked like grass or vines.
Whatever theme you are working with think of foods that might associate with it.
Grab a tray or board and start assembling. I tried to separate like colors and the best part is that it doesn’t have to be perfect.
There’s a million different ways you could have assembled it, that’s the beauty of it. Now it’s ready to start snacking!
Are you going to see the new Lion King? That movie was such a huge part of my childhood so I’m excited to see the new version.
