“Bouquets of freshly sharpened pencils…” Maybe you recognized that line from the movie, “You’ve Got Mail.” I always loved how that one line made going back to school feel lovely! We’ve just completed our first week of the new school year over here and all kids are happily back into the groove of things!! So I felt the need to celebrate our wonderful teachers by making them Felt Teacher Treat Bags. This simple and quick craft is sure to put a smile on your favorite teacher’s face!
I made sure to stuff my felt teacher treat bags with the good stuff… chocolate!! And paired it with a pencil bouquet, of course!
To start, I gathered my supplies:
- Arrow MT300 Mini Glue Gun
- Cricut Felt Sampler in Carousel
- Cricut Glitter iron-on in Silver
- Green bakers twine
I cut my felt and iron-on to size. Don’t you love this portable trimmer with the hidden measuring arm that folds out when needed?! Lifesaver!
Find the project HERE. To save time, I add like materials on the same mat to cut. Here is the mat with both felt cuts on it. Now I just have to place my corresponding colored felt pieces on the correct part of the mat and then I can do two cuts at once!!
Here you can see my green and red felt pieces being cut on the same mat.
Once my felt and iron-on pieces are cut, I set my Easy Press to 270 degrees.
After preheating my felt for 5 seconds, I add my iron-on and press for 30 seconds with mild pressure.
Then peel when still warm. Those extra pieces of glitter are easily brushed off of the felt.
Now I’m ready to assemble. I love how my Arrow mini glue gun makes these smaller crafts easy to do!!
Place a small bead of glue on your leaf.
Place the front apple on top of the leaf and press to secure.
Then add a string of glue around the bottom half of your second felt apple and press both pieces together.
Add the string to your treat bags by adding a bead of glue near the top of the bag’s sides and placing your cut bakers twine. Press together to secure. Repeat on both sides.
I used separate cut pieces of twine and tied them but you could use just one piece and make a loop instead.
You can’t go wrong with a cute felt teacher treat bag filled with goodies! I hope my kids’ teachers enjoy this little present to say thank you for all of their hard work!!
