Okay I might have tried to lure you here with my cute baby! haha
No but really, the other day I was freaking out because I’m going to have a teenager this year. Wait a second, how did this happen? I always wanted a height chart to keep those memories of their growth and now I’m here with an almost teenager! Eeek! I thought, whoa, I gotta get one before the kid starts shooting up-because that hasn’t happened yet.
If you know me, I like things cheap and quick. So usually my crafts have to be done, like, yesterday! Rarely I will take on something more time consuming.
So, some where in the blog world I saw one where they used a fence picket. Perfect! I don’t have to cut anything!
I bought this fence picket for under $2.00.
I found some mis-tint paint for $2.00. I’m all about the mis-tint!
I always use cans to paint. I seem to have plenty around so why not, right??
So I’m doing this project and I can’t find a ruler or yard stick to save my life. Not sure what those kids did with it all but I had to improvise! I swear that’s with everything-tape, scissors, pencils.
I just marked all the inch marks up until I got to the height I wanted
So have you seen those posts on Pinterest where you pint a mirror image of what you want on paper and then trace it with a pencil and then in makes the image on your wood? I decided to give it try.
I was skeptical. I was sure it was a Pinterest fail.
It seriously worked!!
*surprised face*
Ruler still didn’t show its face so I used a JCPenny voucher card instead.
So, like I said before I like things done quick and easy so I thought a sharpie would be perfect-rather than paint or something.
I actually love that it looks distressed. To get that look, go dig in your junk drawer for your ratty old sharpie. Oh and remember folks, color in one direction. See? I still remember what they taught me in Kindergarten!
Now you can make this more precise and probably faster if you had a Silhouette or a Cricut and cut out vinyl. I, unfortunately, don’t have either. Not that i don’t want one, it just hasn’t been a priority to buy one. Now, if any of the Silhouette or Cricut people feel like sending me one, I’d totally be cool with that.
Now I’m thinking its just laziness as I write this post. I was too anxious to hang it up that I used foam tape. I love this stuff! I use it all the time!
Slap some on the back
There ya go!
Oh and I put an A on there for our last name.
Here, my soon-to-be teen, who is obviously thrilled I’m taking this picture! This picture makes me laugh!
Oh and if you’ve failed on keeping track on this kind of thing like I have, go back to any documented doctor’s visits to see if you have their height from the past written down. I might have to do some digging.
At least the baby will have it all there. Sorry other 3! haha

That's a really cute idea. Beats paying $50 for a store-bought one!
