Airstream Annie Update: Shell/Trailer Separation




My husband, Ryan, has been busy!!  We’ve had Annie (our 1976 Airstream Sovereign 31′) for almost a year and slowly but surely we’ve been tearing her down so that we can build her up.  Here is an update with more to come!  (The next update can be found here.)

 


We posted this picture on our Instagram around 7 months ago and that was the beginning of our shell off restoration.  We began by bracing the inside of the shell with 2×12’s, 4×4’s, strong tie braces and A LOT of screws!

Vintage Around-the-World Bridal Shower

One of my most favorite people in the world got engaged and I knew I wanted to throw her a bridal shower!!  The bride-to-be, Annie, was one of the girls in the group I was a leader over at church.  We (along with Rebekah, another girl from the group) connected right away and have been best friends ever since!
Annie went away to college to Brigham Young University, Hawaii.  I know, I’m jealous too!  It was there that she met her fiance, Adit.  Adit is from Indonesia and also attends BYU-H.  I loved that there was a lot of airplane travel to get these two in the right place at the right time to find each other.  I found old atlas books at the thrift store and cut out the maps of where they were both from and where they met.

What you need to know about Mickey’s Halloween Party in Disneyland

I’m sure you’ve noticed that we love all things Disney over here at J&H!  Add Halloween to that and we’re really excited!!  So of course, I just had to get my family tickets to Mickey’s Halloween Party.  We’ve gone for the last three years and will keep coming back because we love it!
Mickey’s Halloween Party is a separate event ticket so even if you have a park ticket or annual pass valid for that day, you’ll still need an additional ticket for the Halloween party.  Good news is, they only sell a limited number of tickets so the park is typically less busy than usual.  And the later in the evening of the party, the less crowds there are!  (People get tired and leave.  But not us.  We stay until the park closes!)  You also are allowed entrance up to three hours before party time so you can start enjoying Disneyland early!  Annual passholders also get a discount on some party nights.
I’m going to outline some of the awesome perks we found at Mickey’s Halloween Party.
Also, if you book through Get Away Today you can get a $10 discount by mentioning Jolly and Happy.  I know that doesn’t sound like much but Disney doesn’t do discounts on tickets.  Just think of it as a free $10. Get Away Today is great because they know everything Disney and can help you plan the very vacation you need and want without extra fees.

Rainbow Dash Halloween Costume




My daughter is obsessed with My Little Pony, well horses in general, but the MLP obsession is definitely there.
(She can straight up gallop like a horse).
So when it was time time to pick a costume last year, she wanted to be Rainbow Dash, of course.  The first thing I did was see what was out there to buy.  Making costumes is not my first go to-I would rather save the time if I can.  The only one I saw was at Target.  It was $35 and the felt tail pieces were just glued to the satin. I couldn’t buy it….it was too much for the poor quality soooo to the internet we went.
I couldn’t quite find what we wanted so we made up our own.  I just wanted to throw another idea out there for those scoping out Rainbow Dash Costumes. Here you go internet!
I wish I would have taken more pictures to make this a DIY but I was just trying to get it done in time. Actually, I wish I would have taken more pictures, period.  This was all I had from the season.  She’s even missing part of her costume.  What was I thinking? It’s not like I had a new baby or anything. haha

A Woodland 1st Birthday Party




Well it happened. My baby turned 1.  Even though I wanted to curl up in the corner and pretend it wasn’t happening, we celebrated, of course.
One day, I was looking for ideas for her birthday and came upon this fabric on Pinterest. I showed Meghan, we fell in love and that’s where the inspiration for the entire party came from…

Quinn’s Toy Story Birthday Party




My littlest turned five this past weekend.  Yep, my fifth child officially turned five at 5:55pm on Saturday.  Moms always say they can’t believe how fast time goes when it comes to their children aging.  That’s because it’s absolutely true!!  Time flies and before you know it, your baby isn’t a baby anymore!  Enough of me crying about it…. Let’s get on with the party!
